10/22/08 - Skipadate draws post 10 in the BC Juvenile Turf.

Skipadate (Tr: Mark Casse) – The son of Skip Awayl drew post 10 and that's fine with trainer Mark Casse because 7-2 favorite Bittel Road and Grand Adventure will be to his outside when the gates open. "Three of the livest horses in the race are all there on the outside so at least those other two won't have an advantage on us," said Norman Casse, the assistant to his father, who is scheduled to arrive on the grounds tonight . Skipadate, who finished second by a head to Grand Adventure in the Summer Stakes at Woodbine last out, galloped 1 1/2m this morning and is the 6-1 choice in the race.

Strengths: Consistent closer is not afraid of a dogfight and proved that with a dead-head debut win and a pair of photo-finish defeats in major stakes events. Colt boasts a great early foundation with all route races on the lawn to open his career. Showed he could ship out of his home circuit at Woodbine, where a 1-turn mile produced his same excellent late kick that he showed around 2 turns at Saratoga.

Weaknesses: Needs some racing luck given his slow-early style, dependent on trip and pace. He has yet to face a capacity field, which could magnify those concerns. Still has to prove he can seize an opportunity and put top competition away.
