Hopewell Farm is 600 acres of gently rolling land located in Woodford County, Kentucky. Its 9 barns serve as homes to Thoroughbred stallions, broodmares, foals and yearlings. Exercise pavilions enable Hopewell’s staff to prepare yearlings for sale and maintain the Stallion’s conditioning.

Hopewell’s barn 4 serves as the foaling barn. During the foaling season, 2 foaling professionals staff this barn and supervise all foalings.

In late November of each year, all mares not in foal are moved to barn 6 which serves as Hopewell’s barren mare facility. Hopewell is proud of its record in getting barren mares in foal during the breeding season following their placement in this facility.

A separate building houses all hay and straw. This reduces the danger of fire in one of the barns and the possible injury to horses.

The Farm is managed by a team composed of Marlene Gaidzik - the farm manager, Bob Sliger - the yearling manager, and Scott Garrison - the broodmare manager.  Between them, they supervise a staff of 40 employees. Robert Washer serves as Hopewell’s stallion manager who, along with his staff, care for 8 stallions and operate the breeding shed. Rita Gallagher is Hopewell’s Office manager. Rita and her staff maintain records on all horses boarded at Hopewell and schedule all matings.

Dr. Gary Priest is Hopewell’s veterinarian providing daily care for all horses at Hopewell. Dr. Priest’s hospital is located 5 miles from Hopewell where horses can be taken if they require care that cannot be given at the farm. Farriers, dentists and others regularly visit Hopewell assuring that all horses receive the highest level of care.

Glen Walls directs a maintenance staff of 7 who assure a safe home for the horses. Jim Walls, Glen’s father, runs Hopewell’s maintenance shop, maintaining the farm equipment.
